Danone Southern Africa made a difference in the following places
Nkandla Project The Nkandla Food Gardening project is a community project started in September 2010. The project is made up of 20 women who are in the rural area of Kwa Zulu-Natal. The women named the project Qedisimo sendlala meaning "putting an end to hunger". These are women who remain at home when their husbands find jobs in the urban areas and they look after their households with the little that is sent to them by their respective husbands. The project has been flourishing with every visit we make and the women are proud of their achievement and progress. They love the method and it's produce. They are able to feed themselves and their families. For these women, it has trully been an achievement. Hammersdale Project This is a school project in Kwa Zulu-Natal. The project is made up of 20 memers made up of learners, educators and parents. The learners involved in this project are learners from the Danone Nationa Cup program. These kids won the Danone Nations Cup also known as DNC, in 2009. Donone wanted these kids to benefit from the Food Gardening project. As a result we were tasked to assist them with a Food Garden at the schools as well as their homes. Like the Qedisimo sendlala, the school has the principal, Mrs Nkeke, as their champion, and the project is flourishing. The 11 learners with the help of FGF representatives have established container Food Gardenns.
